Subject: FW: Help required to a Baby suffering from Tyrosinemia type I liver disease
Hi Thara:
Kindly find below mail from Mohammed Pasha, our colleague based in Chennai Location with ITO-DCS team, looking for support for his 1.5 year old son, Liver transplant treatment.
Warm greetings,
I would like to bring to your notice that one of my friend's baby (11 month old) is suffering from a liver disorder known as Tyrosinemia type I. The baby has been taken to several hospitals for expert advice on treating Tyrosinemia type I disorder of the liver. All of the doctors (from various hospitals) have concluded that liver transplant is the treatment of first choice to save the baby.
The cost of liver transplant if a external Donor is considered, amounts to 75 lakhs to 1 Crore. hence in this case due to the cost affordability issue, the mother has become the liver donor ((The the baby's blood type matches with the mother's blood type, )). This has brought down the costs of liver transplant to 25lakhs ~ 30 lakhs.
I have discussed various options too in the past one month and the below mail chain is the evidence of different opinions sought.
He mailed all the reports of diagnosis and the attachment was huge. Hence, I picked up only a few reports for your kind reference.
This friend of mine is working in a travel office as a technical support engineer. He does not have the ability to get this treatment for his baby on his own. He has a huge task ahead and the time is running out.
Dear friends, your financial contributions would help save this baby. Charity is a great virtue. your contributions can be made via various modes it can be either online or cheque or cash.

A small info on Tyrosinemia type I - a disorder of the liver.
Tyrosinemia type I, a disorder of tyrosine metabolism, classically presents as severe liver disease in young infants. Tyrosinemia is a genetic disorder characterized by elevated blood levels of the amino acid tyrosine, a building block of most proteins. Tyrosinemia is caused by the shortage (deficiency) of one of the enzymes required for the multistep process that breaks down tyrosine. If untreated, tyrosine and its byproducts build up in tissues and organs, which leads to serious medical problems. Type I tyrosinemia can lead to liver and kidney failure, problems affecting the nervous system, and an increased risk of liver cancer.
