What is the ruling on Celebrating the night of the Isra’, which is the twenty-seventh night of Rajab & fasting the day?

What is the ruling on Celebrating the night of the Isra’, which is the twenty-seventh night of Rajab & fasting the day?

Praise be to Allaah.

There is no doubt that the Isra’ and Mi’raaj (the Prophet’s Night Journey and Ascent into heaven) are two great signs of Allaah which point to the truthfulness of the His Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and the greatness of his status before Allaah. They are also signs of the great power of Allaah, and of His exalted position above His creation. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Glorified (and Exalted) be He (Allaah) [above all that (evil) they associate with Him]

Who took His slave (Muhammad) for a journey by night from Al‑Masjid Al‑Haraam (at Makkah) to Al‑Masjid Al‑Aqsa (in Jerusalem), the neighbourhood whereof We have blessed, in order that We might show him (Muhammad) of Our Ayaat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.). Verily, He is the All‑Hearer, the All‑Seer”

[al-Isra’ 17:1]

There are mutawaatir reports from the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that he was taken up into the heavens, and their gates were opened for him, until he passed beyond the seventh heaven, where his Lord spoke to him as He willed, and enjoined the five daily prayers upon him. At first Allaah, may He be exalted, enjoined fifty prayers, but our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) kept going back and asking Him to reduce it, until He made them five, so they are five obligatory prayers but fifty in reward, because each good deed is rewarded tenfold. To Allaah be praise and thanks for all His blessings.

With regard to this night on which the Isra’ and Mi’raaj took place, there is nothing in the saheeh ahaadeeth to indicate that it is in Rajab or in any other month. Everything that has been narrated concerning a specific date for these events cannot be proven to have come from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) according to the scholars of hadeeth. Allaah has wise reasons for causing the people to forget it. Even if the date were proven, it would not be permissible for the Muslims to single it out for particular acts of worship, and it is not permissible for them to celebrate it, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his companions (may Allaah be pleased with them) did not celebrate it and they did not single it out in any way. If celebrating it was something that is prescribed in Islam, the Messenger would have told his ummah about that, either in word or in deed. If any such thing had happened, it would have been well known, and his companions would have transmitted the information to us. They narrated from their Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) everything that his ummah needs to know, and they did not neglect any aspect of the religion, rather they were the first ones to do anything good. If celebrating this night had been prescribed in Islam, they would have been the first people to do so. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was the most sincere of people, and he conveyed the message to the people in full, and he fulfilled the trust. If venerating and celebrating this night were part of the religion of Allaah, then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) would have done that and would not have concealed it. Since no such thing happened, it is known that celebrating it and venerating it is not part of Islam at all. Allaah has perfected this ummah’s religion for it and has completed His favour upon them, and He condemns those who introduce things into the religion which Allaah has not ordained. Allaah says in His holy Book, in Soorat al-Maa’idah (interpretation of the meaning):

“This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion”

[al-Maa’idah 5:3]

And Allaah says in Soorat al-Shoora (interpretation of the meaning):

“Or have they partners with Allaah (false gods) who have instituted for them a religion which Allaah has not ordained?”

[al-Shoora 42:21]

In the saheeh ahaadeeth it is proven that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) warned against bid’ah (innovation) and stated clearly that it is misguidance, so as to show the ummah how serious the matter is and put them off it.

For example, it is narrated in al-Saheehayn from ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever introduces anything into this matter of ours that is not part of it will have it rejected.” In a report narrated by Muslim it says: “Whoever does any action that is not part of this matter of ours will have it rejected.”

In Saheeh Muslim it is narrated that Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to say in his khutbah on Friday: “The best of speech is the Book of Allaah and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). The worst of matters are those which are newly-invented, and every innovation is a going astray.” Al-Nasaa’i added with a jayyid isnaad: “and every going astray will be in the Fire.”

In al-Sunan it is narrated that al-‘Irbaad ibn Saariyah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) delivered an eloquent speech to us which melted our hearts and caused our eyes to flow with tears. We said: O Messenger of Allaah, it is as if it is a farewell address, so advise us. He said: “I advise you to fear Allaah, and to listen and obey, even if a slave is appointed over you. Whoever among you lives will see many differences, so I urge you to adhere to my Sunnah and the way of the rightly-guided caliphs who will come after me, and cling firmly to it. Beware of newly-invented matters, for every newly-invented matter is an innovation and every innovation is a going astray. And there are many ahaadeeth with a similar meaning.

Warnings against bid’ah (innovation) have been narrated from the companions of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and from the righteous salaf after them, because this is no more than adding things to the religion and instituting a religion that Allaah has not ordained, and it is an imitation of the enemies of Allaah, the Jews and the Christians, in their additions to their religions and introducing into them things that Allaah had not ordained. It also implies that there is something lacking in Islam, and that it is not complete, and it is well known that this leads to great mischief and evil, and goes against the verse in which Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion”

[al-Maa’idah 5:3]

It also goes against the ahaadeeth of the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) which warn against innovation (bid’ah).

I hope that the evidence we have quoted will be sufficient to convince the seeker of truth that this bid’ah is wrong, i.e., the innovation of celebrating the night of the Isra’ and Mi’raaj, and that it is not part of the religion of Islam at all.

Because Allaah has enjoined being sincere towards the Muslims and explaining what Allaah has prescribed for them in their religion, and because it is haraam to conceal knowledge, I thought that I should point out this innovation, which is so widespread in many regions that people think it is part of the religion, to my Muslim brothers.

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked about fasting on the twenty-seventh of Rajab and spending that night in prayer. He replied:

Fasting on the twenty-seventh of Rajab and spending that night in prayer is a bid’ah (innovation), and every bid’ah is a going astray. End quote.

Majmoo’ Fataawa Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, 20/440.

Allaah is the One Whom we ask to set the affairs of all the Muslims straight, and to bless them with knowledge of Islam, and to help us and them to adhere steadfastly to the truth, and to forsake everything that goes against it, for He is able to do that. May Allaah send blessings and peace upon His slave and Messenger, our Prophet Muhammad, and his family and companions.

And Allah knows best.

Women in Hell and Paradise

As Salam Alaikum.. Wa Rehmathullahi Wa Barkathu..

Information Collected from the Book called "LIGHT OF LIFE"

Muslims often repeat the hadith that says: "Paradise is under the feet of mothers," in order to prove the high position women enjoy in Islam. It is very hard to tell whether this tradition is true or not (it has not been found in trustworthy writings). Yet, we have a number of Hadiths that occurred in the major acceptable books of hadith (al-Sihah) indicating that women are the smallest minority in paradise. `Aran Ibn Husain narrated that the prophet said, "I looked about in paradise and found that the poor constitute most of its dwellers, and I looked about in hell and saw that women constitute most of its dwellers."(1) Abu Huraira narrated: "We were at his place [Muhammad's] and the people either boasted or reminded one another. He said, 'Men in paradise are more than in hell.' "(2 ) A weak hadith tells us: "Out of 99 women, one is in paradise and the rest are in hell."(3) Muhammad explains why by saying: "I have seen you being the majority in hell because you curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands."(4) `Abdullah Ibn `Amr narrated: "O women! Give alms and ask pardon [from God] frequently, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of hell were you." "One of them asked, 'Why, Messenger of God, are we the majority of the dwellers of hell?' He replied, 'You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you.' "(5)Imara Ibn Huzaima narrated: "While we were with `Amr Ibn al-`As on a pilgrimage or an `Umra, he said, "While we were with the Messenger of God in this mountain path, he said, 'Look! Do you see anything?' We answered, 'We see ravens; one is white-footed with red legs and peak.' The Messenger of God said, `No woman will enter paradise unless she is like this raven in comparison to the rest of the ravens.' "(6) A rare hadith has it that Muhammad said, "A believing woman is the same among women as a white-footed raven among the ravens. Fire has been created for the senseless, and women are the most senseless of all."(7) Al-Imam al-Qurtubi is said to give the following to explain the allegation that women are a minority among the dwellers of paradise: "Women are the least [in number] among the dwellers of paradise due to their inclination to passion, the passing enjoyments of life, and indifference to the afterlife; which is all caused by the deficiency of their intelligence and gullibility."(8)
If we take into consideration the hadiths concerning the dwellers of paradise the proportion of men to women will change drastically since they state that the dwellers of paradise will inherit their wives and concubines! Abu Umama narrated: "The Messenger of God said, 'Everyone that God admits into paradise will be married to 72 wives; two of them are houris(9) and seventy of his inheritance of the [female] dwellers of hell. All of them will have libidinous sex organs and he will have an ever-erect penis.' "(10)
The sayings of Muhammad make it clear that the believer will be given special sexual power in paradise. Anas narrated: In paradise the believer will be given the power of such and such for intercourse. The Messenger of God was asked, "Will he be able to bear that?" He answered, "He will be given the power of a hundred [men]."(11) In Muhammad's imagination, the believer will not only be favoured with wives and concubines, but also "if he desires children they will be conceived for him, born, and grow teeth in one hour as he desires."(12) This point, however, is debatable. Some scholars hold that there will be intercourse in paradise but there will be no giving birth to children. Ishaq Ibn Ibrahim narrates: "If a believer desires a child in paradise, he will have it at once, but he won't desire so." Some attribute to Muhammad that he said, "The dwellers of paradise will have children there."(13)
Another hadith says, "Men will enter into paradise after a short conversation with God. They will go to their dwelling-places where their wives will welcome them. Their wives will ask them about the secret of their glamorous beauty which they did not possess before they left their dwelling-places. They will answer them, saying that they have sat down with their Lord, and therefore they have the right to it."(14) There are many other hadiths emphasising the continuity of marital life in paradise, or the enjoyment of the [male] believers with the male and female slaves. So if Muhammad claims, in spite of the stories he related concerning the large number of wives and concubines in paradise, that women are the least among the dwellers of paradise, the reason would be that their men perished in hell because they were enticed by them [the women]. Muhammad said, "But for the woman, man would have entered paradise,"(15) and also, "Obeying them is [the cause of] their destruction."(16)

'If an Ignorant Harms U Let Forbearance Benefit U'[PROFOUND][Ibn Hibban]

'Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah'

'As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu '

'Let your Forbearance Benefit You'

Wahb ibn al-Munabbih's profound advice:

"O my son, do not argue with the learned ones such lest you become lowly in their sight and thus they reject you.

Do not dispute with the foolish  lest they in turn harm you and insult you.

Indeed, the one who reaches the rank of the scholars is ---

he who bears patience and sees their point of view.

And indeed, the one who is saved from the foolish  is he who holds his tongue and remains silent from them.

Don't ever think that by arguing with the 'faqih'[scholar]

you will gain anything except increasing his anger and making him accustomed to that.

Let it never be the case that in your attempt to protect yourself from small matters which you hear, you then fall into great matters which you dislike.

Do not expose yourself for the sake of gratifying your anger,

and if an ignorant person harms you then

let your forbearance benefit you.

If you are someone who does good only when good is done to him, then what is your reward??

and what is your virtue over others?

Surely, if you wish for reward and virtue,

then do good to the one who does you harm,

forgive the one who-has wronged you,

benefit the one brings

you no benefit !

and wait for the reward of all that from Allah.

for that is surely the complete righteous good deed which a person would not want to be merely rewarded for in this lowly world.

[i.e. he would want his reward to be in the Hereafter]."

The Real Dynamic of Muslims' Success

Before Istanbul (Constantinople) was conquered by the young Ottoman Sultan, Mehmed II, the rule of the Byzantine Emperor had been protested by two priests who were consequently imprisoned. After the conquest, they were offered freedom but refused to leave their prison, preferring it to living in a world where moral corruption and injustices prevailed.

Mehmed the Conqueror summoned them and proposed that they travel in the Ottoman lands to see how things were now. The priests went to Bursa and witnessed the following trial in a court:

A Muslim citizen had bought a horse from a non-Muslim. On returning home at the end of the day, he discovered that the horse was ill. Deciding to plead his case before a judge, he came to the court the very next morning. The unexpected lateness of the judge obliged him to leave the court, unheard, and submit his plea the following morning. Now, it so happened that the horse died that evening, before the Muslim's plea was heard.

After listening to the circumstances of the case, the judge decreed:

If I had come on time yesterday morning, I would have returned the horse to the vendor and had your money refunded. However, as a result of my delay, the horse died before your loss could be corrected. Therefore, it is I who must recompense your loss.

The judge then paid the wronged Muslim the price of the horse.

The priests witnessed another trial in the court of Iznik.

A Muslim had bought a field from another Muslim. While ploughing this field, he dug up a pot full of gold coins. He went directly to the man who had sold the field and said: 'This is yours. I bought from you the field, not the pot. You did not know whether there was a pot there when you sold the field.' However, the vendor refused to accept the pot, saying: 'I sold the field with whatever is in or under it. The pot fell to your lot. It never turned up while I was using the field.' Unable to agree on how to resolve the matter, the two men referred the case to the court.

After hearing their arguments, the judge asked the two men whether they had children: one had a son, the other a daughter. The judge then proposed that they marry one to the other and give the coupe the pot of gold coins as a marriage gift. The two men agreed and did as the judge suggested...

Pleased with what they had witnessed, the priests agreed to quit prison and live in the world.

Thank Allah Always For everything

As salam alaikum

A man reached 70 years of age and was affected by a disease which made him unable to urinate. The doctors told him that he needs an operation to cure the disease. He agreed to do the operation as the problem was giving him severe pain for days. When the operation was completed the doctor gave him a bill which covered all the costs. After looking at the bill, the man started crying. Upon seeing this, the doctor said "If the cost is too high then we could make some other arrangements for you." The old man replied, "I am not crying because of the money but I am crying because Allah let me urinate for 70 years and He never sent me a bill!"

Subhanallah! We rarely thank Allah for these things which are indeed great favours. Let us ask Allah to grant us the ability to recognize His bounties and thank Him often.

"And He gave you of all that you asked for, and if you count the blessings of Allah, never will you be able to count them?" Al Quran (14:34)
